The Stone Memorial Lady Panther volleyball team captured the District 4A/AA Tournament Thursday evening at SMHS. The Lady Panthers return service against Anderson County in the best three of five championship match. SMHS won three games to one. SMHS defeated Christian Academy of Knoxville (CAK) in the first semi-final match, while Anderson County defeated Knox Catholic.

The Stone Memorial High School Lady Panther volleyball team defeated Sullivan North 25-7, 25-10, 25-20 to claim the Class A/AA section championship and a berth into next week's state tournament in Murfreesboro.

The Lady Panthers (44-5) join Anderson County (26-15), Boyd-Buchanan (34-10), Greenbrier (record unavailable), CPA (18-11), Page (36-11), Lexington (29-4) and Jackson South Side (45-8) in the eight-team tournament, which begins Wednesday at both Seigel and Blackman high schools.

The eight teams will be divided into two pools of four teams, with the top two teams from each pool advancing into the championship round. Pool play begins Wednesday at noon at Blackman, with action moving to Seigel on Thursday, beginning at 9 a.m.

The semi-finals and finals will be played at Seigel, beginning at 9 a.m. Friday.
