Stonehenge Golf Club, Tennessee's only course that features Bentgrass from tee to green, will host the local PGA McGladrey Team Championship on Wednesday, Aug. 1. Stonehenge Golf Club will also be the host site for the Tennessee Section as well.

The PGA McGladrey Team Championship is an exciting new nationwide tournament that brings together PGA professionals and amateurs is a grassroots best ball amateur Championship.

The PGA McGladrey Team Championship is operated and managed by the PGA of America, and culminates at Pinehurst via a series of local qualifying events and PGA Section Championships. The national championship field consists of 41 foursomes. Competition is open to golfers of all levels.

The local qualifying event costs $55 per player and covers golf fees and tee gifts.

"Participants at the local McGladrey qualifier will have a home course advantage for the sectional. This should be a huge advantage," comments Stonehengre Golf Club head PGA professional Frank Christopher. "The winning team also has the opportunity to play in the national finals at Pinehurst, including historic No. 21!"

About the PGA team championship

The championship is a result of new partnership between the PGA of America and RSM McGladrey as the official accounting, tax and business consulting firm of the PGA of America.

There are three steps along the journey to the national spotlight.

From local qualifying events from March through June, following 41 setional championships through August, and finally the trip any golfer would welcome — the national championship, Sept 10-12 at world-renowned Pinehurst, NC resort.

Competition in this net best ball event is open to golfers of all levels. It is your tournament to enjoy, and to experience that rare opportunity to be in a national championship.
