tech camp

The CCHS Lady Jets Basketball team attended team camp at Tennessee Tech University in late July. The Lady Jets completed their jam-packed summer events, under direction of first-year head coach, Crisla Herchenhahn, with a 3-day, 10-game season at Tech's Team Camp, July 24-26. "Overall, I am pleased with our summer season. There was a lot going on in this transition period, but the girls accepted the challenges and were able to accomplish a great deal in two short months," stated Herchenhahn.

The Lady Jets worked extremely hard in the weight room and on the court in preparation of the upcoming season. The Lady Jets summer schedule involved practice three days a week including two additional practice times for shooting practice. Summer practices focused on learning the new system of play. Fundamentals skills and a renewed work ethic were also part of the summer regimen.

"Assistant Coach Kayla Cooley carried the responsibility of the weight room for the Lady Jets this summer, which included a workout three days a week.

"Our summer workouts were very focused on four key areas — defense, our fast-break, getting stronger in the weight room and our defense," Herchenhahn commented with a smile.

"I enjoy an up-tempo game, but we fully believe that games are won on the defensive end of the floor," continued Herchenhahn.

The Lady Jets will take a few well-deserved weeks off before beginning the preseason weights and conditioning program.
