The CCHS Jets Baseball squad picked up their seventh win of the season Thursday night over the York Dragons 11-1.
Drew Vaden picked up his second win of the season tossing a complete game, giving up only three hits over six innings, while allowing no earned runs and striking out 11.
"Tonight we got a quality effort by Drew Vaden as he continues to improve with every outing. Offensively we started off slow but we have shown the ability to make some decent adjustments and we did that tonight. We have to continue to get better every day out before we begin district play again next week," said Coach David Prichard.
The game remained scoreless until the bottom of the third when the Jets would take a 1-0 lead off of a safety squeeze executed by Ryan Burgess. The Dragons answered back with an unearned run in the top of the fourth to even the score at 1-1.
The Jets reclaimed the lead in the bottom of the fourth after a failed pickoff attempt by York.
In the fifth inning the Jets would extend their lead by four runs with hits by Ethan Cunningham, Ryan Burgess, Grant Parrett, and Matt Ledbetter. The Jets drove the nail in the coffin in the sixth by plating the final five runs by taking advantage of hits from Nathaniel Wyatt, Ryan Burgess and Grant Parrett.
Schedule: The Jets game at Livingston was rained out Saturday and reset for April 12 at noon. CCHS returned the District 6AAA with their home and home series with Rhea County — at home Monday and in Evensville Tuesday.
