Zaine Idema won first-place defensive line and second-place overall lineman at The Blue Chip Football Academy in North Carolina recently.

Zaine Idema attended the sixth annual Blue Chip Football Academy in North Carolina where he was awarded first place for defensive line and second place for overall lineman.

The Blue Chip Football Academy is for the serious high school football player who wants to play college football. BCFA is an invitation only football camp with a 300 participant limit which allows for the lowest player to coach ratio of any camp.

During the three-day, two-night camp, Idema spent hours on the field with 20 head coaches and 13 college coordinators learning drills and techniques.  He also attended seminars on weight training, nutrition, injuries, and academics.

On the final night,  Idema battled through challenges to be put in as the fourth seed going into the final competition.  The next morning, he fought hard and won first place in defensive lineman and second place for overall Lineman.

Idema has played and lettered in football at SMHS since his freshman year.  He has played at guard, tackle and center.  He is now playing defensive end and guard, and is looking forward to his senior season.
