The fifth Crossville Chronicle Golf Course of the Week can be found less than 6 miles from downtown.

River Run Golf Club is among Cumberland County’s more affordable golf courses.

Located next to Holiday Lake at 1701 Tennessee Ave., Crossville, River Run features 18 holes measuring at 6,782 yards from the back tees.

Open since the 1970s, River Run has been a local favorite for almost 50 years.

Ponds, creeks and other water features can be found throughout the course, along with wide open fairways.

River Run features two of the most unique holes in Cumberland County back-to-back: No. 2 and No. 3.

Hole No. 2 holds the title of Cumberland County’s longest hole, spanning 586 yards from the back tees to the hole.

Following No. 2, hole No. 3 shows a drastic change, as No. 3 is the shortest hole in the county at only 88 yards from tee to hole.

The green at No, 3  is surrounded on three sides by water and woods on the fourth.

The precision required to make par on the hole is matched by few holes in Cumberland County.

River Run’s fairways are free of houses, taking some of the stress out of the course.

Back at the shop, River Run has golf clubs and balls for sale along with a snack bar downstairs.

Perhaps River Run’s biggest draw can also be found in the pro shop: the prices.

River Run boasts itself as Cumberland County’s least expensive course. It has rates for both 18 and nine holes, with range balls included as part of the affordability promotion.
