At Tuesday's home track meet, the CCHS Jets and Lady Jets not only had to compete against Clarkrange, but also the weather.

The girls' shot put and boys discus had just finished when lightning was sighted and everyone was sent to the gym for the duration of the storm, according to Assistant Coach Richard Wade.

After a 40 minute delay, the meet continued, but without anymore field events, nor any hurdle races.

The Lady Jets were victorious over Clarkrange 61-20, as they won every event except the 200, where they didn't have anyone entered.

Winning their events were Lauren Elmore (shot put), Courtney Koehl (3200), Allison Gentry (100), Grace Andersen (1600), Callie Shanks (400) and Jigna Patel (800).

The winning relay teams were 4x100 (Gentry, Randell Todd, Crystal Massey and Shana Meaux), 4x200 (Gentry, Todd, Kristin Hall and Meaux), 4x400 (Gentry, Corrie Dyer, Allie Hall and Grace Andersen), and 4x800 (Stephanie Moerdyke, Kristin Hall, Patel and Dyer).

Coming in second were Shanks (3200), Meaux (100) and Katrina DeVore (1600). Placing third were Laura Stone (400) and Allie Hall (880).

"Athlete of the Meet" honors for the Lady Jets went to Koehl for her victory in the 3200 meter run during a heavy rain. Her time of 13:31.2 was just two seconds off her personal record, which she set at last Friday's Volunteer Classic.

The Jets won 61-22.

Winners were Trystan Henry (discus), E.J. Williams (100), Aaron Andersen (1600), Zach Stewart (400) and Michael Campbell (200).

Relay winners were 4x100 (Campbell, Stewart, John Guidara and Kyle Cokkinias), 4x200 (Cokkinias, Campbell, Guidara and Williams), 4x400 (Williams, Joseph DeLorenzo, Stewart and Aaron Andersen), and 4x800 (Bryant Davis, Cody Keck, DeLorenzo and Stewart).

"Athlete of the Meet" was Henry, who set a personal record of 116 feet in winning the discus.

Nine CCHS athletes well be competing in the Best of Preps today in Chattanooga.

CCHS travels to Bradley Central on Tuesday, May 2.
