A local man charged with aggravated sexual battery of a juvenile pleaded guilty in Cumberland County Criminal Court last week and received a six-year prison sentence.

In addition to serving six years in prison,Timothy Wayne Akins, 44, will have to register on the state's sex offender registry and be under community supervision for life.

The incident took place in January of 2010 and involved someone under the age of 13. Nothing else is known about the case. Akins will receive credit for time served since his May arrest.
