A Cumberland County man who authorities said was in the road died after being struck by a vehicle early Thursday morning, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
The victim was identified as Kevin W. Price, 45, of the Westel area. The driver of a 2012 Chevrolet Equinox is identified as Rebekah G. Cagley, 22, who is listed as having a Rockwood address. Neither Cagley nor a 3-year-old child in the vehicle were injured.
The incident occurred around 5:09 a.m. on Hwy. 70 E. in the area of the limestone plant. It was investigated by Trooper Justin Mote.
According to Mote’s report, Cagley was driving west and “was unable to avoid striking a pedestrian in their lane of travel.”
After the collision, the vehicle ran off the road on the right side and traveled into a ditch where it stopped.
The report states no charges nor citations are anticipated.
