The Crossville Police Department is investigating a case in which a resident of a local nursing home reported several valuable items stolen from her room.

The WyndRidge Health and Rehabilitation Center resident reported that someone took a platinum wedding band with five half-carat diamonds, a digital camera, Baylor watch, CD player and gold chain with a diamond and ruby pendant from her room sometime on the night of Sept. 20, according to a report filed by Crossville Police Lt. Tony Davis.

The total loss of the items was listed at $4,500. Davis's report says the resident thinks the theft occurred on Sept. 20 because there was a "big function" at the facility that night and there were several visitors at the center. The report also states the reason the incident wasn't reported until Oct. 4 is that employees of WyndRidge had looked around the facility to make sure another resident living there had not picked up the items.
