National Hospice Month

November is National Hospice and Palliative Care Month. Joining Cumberland County Mayor Allen Foster as he proclaimed the recognition in Cumberland County were, from left, Ginny Dyer, Jim Oswald, Teresa Parker, Foster, Kendra Taylor, Jennifer Garrett and Katrina Millette, representing Hopsice of Cumberland County. Hospice provides individualized services and treatment for patients, including palliative care. Hospice workers also attend to the emotional, spiritual and family needs of the patient, providing bereavement counseling or respite care for caregivers. About 1.55 million Americans living with a life-limiting illness received care from hospice programs in 2018.
