A Crossville man found by city police riding a bicycle on a busy city street was arrested and accused of peddling more than a bike when police found four small packets of what they described to be cocaine.
Juan E. Vazquez, 20, 31 Wilson Ave., is charged with manufacture, delivery or sale of a controlled substance, possession of a schedule II drug and criminal impersonation, according to Ptl. Josh McCollum's report.
The incident occurred June 25 when McCollum, on routine patrol, passed a man riding a bicycle on Genesis Rd. The officer wrote in his report that the cyclist almost ran into his patrol car.
The officer turned around and caught up with the man in the area of Pine Eden Baptist Church. He asked the bicycle rider why he was riding in the middle of the road at almost 11 p.m. at night.
The man gave police a false name and during a pat down, police found four small packets of a white powder in a shirt pocket. After a field test on the substance, the suspect was taken into custody.
