A Saturday crash in Meigs County took the lives of two Rhea County residents and left a Crossville truck driver critically injured, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

Killed in the crash were Kenneth Haught, 44, and Jacqueline Fountaine, 26, both of Spring City, who were passengers in a 1996 Ford Explorer driven by Ryan C. Fountaine, 25, also of the Spring City area. Haught and Jacqueline Fountaine were dead at the scene, according to reports.

in additional to the driver, Ryan Fountaine, Carolyn Scarbrough, 45, of Crossville, were flown to Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga for treatment of injuries received in the crash.

According to Trooper Will Broyles' report, the Ford Explorer was traveling on Hwy. 68 about a mile east of the Watts Bar Dam when it attempted a left turn onto River Rd., turning into the path of the Volvo tractor-trailer rig driven by Scarbrough.

Condition of the two survivors of the crash was not known at press time. It also was not known what if any charges will be filed in connection with the wreck.
