Paul B. Copley of Jamestown died of injuries sustained in this single-vehicle crash Monday morning.

A single-vehicle traffic crash early Monday morning claimed the life of a Fentress County man, the Tennessee Highway Patrol reported.

The victim is identified as Paul B. Copley, 70, of the Jamestown area. He died from injuries suffered in the crash that happened around 6:20 a.m. Monday on Hwy. 127 N in the area of Potato Farm Rd., according to Trooper Jack Alderman's report.

Copley was driving his 1998 Chevrolet Malibu south on Hwy. 127 N when for unknown reasons the vehicle left the road, striking a mail box, entered a field where it struck a large hay roll, careened back across the ditch and out onto the highway on its top, Trooper Alderman reported.

The victim was not wearing his seat belt and, according to Alderman's report, the outcome may have been different for the driver.
