Cumberland County investigators are looking into a fire of unknown origin that came following an explosion at a house in the Claysville community last week, according to reports.

The Cumberland County Fire Department was dispatched to 581 Claysville Rd. after residents in the area reported hearing a loud explosion at the house owned by Diane Wyatt. No one was injured in the incident.

When firefighters and deputies arrived on the scene, they found fire and smoke pouring from the residence. A firefighter told Cpl. David Hamby that the residence had a strong smell of an accelerent inside the residence. It appeared the explosion occurred in the rear of the residence.

A witness reported seeing an older model white station wagon in the area prior to the explosion. Sheriff's Investigator Scott Griffin was called to the scene and the investigation is continuing.
