A tip to the Crossville Crimestoppers hotline led police to investigate and arrest a Cumberland County man for trafficking drugs after a substantial amount of cash and marijuana was seized, according to reports.

Chad E. Scott, 25, 10020 Crossville Hwy., faces one count of manufacture, delivery or sale and possession of marijuana for resale after police seized $1,187 in cash and a compressed block of marijuana that weighed nearly ten pounds, according to Sgt. Bart Riden's report.

Police received a tip that a vehicle parked in Jack's Barbershop parking lot off Hwy. 127 N had ten pounds of marijuana in it. Maj. Terry White, director of the Crimestoppers program, passed the information on to Det. Greg Patton and Sgt. Riden who found and observed the 1993 Nissan Sentra for several hours. Riden, a K-9 officer, later made a sweep of nearby storage buildings with his drug detecting dog.

At that time, the narcotics dog, Sven, suddenly alerted to one of three nearby parked vehicles, which turned out to be the Nissan Sentra. The marijuana was found in the trunk of the vehicle, the report states. Marijuana, cash and the car were seized and Scott charged.
