As reported earlier, this year's USO Show, sponsored by the Crab-Orchard Chapter DAR, will be held on Veterans' Day, Sunday, Nov. 11, at 2 p.m. Tickets can be purchased in advance for $8 at the Palace Theatre (weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) and the Fairfield Glade Recreation Center.

Get ready to see some fresh new faces this year, including Gen. George S. Patton, the Andrews Sisters, Jo Stafford, Don Ameche and Frances Langford. Making return appearances will be Winston Churchill, Marilyn Monroe and other famous personalities.

Once again, all veterans are invited to submit copies of their service photos for display in the USO canteen area. These photos will be laminated and saved for future shows. Please drop off your pictures at the Art Circle Public Library located at 154 E. First Street. Library hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. and Wednesday and Saturday, 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. The first Wednesday of each month, the library will be open noon until 4 p.m. There will be a box there just for this purpose. Please provide name(s) of people in photos, approximate date and location where it was taken as well as your name and telephone number. After the USO Show, the photos can be picked up at the library.

The Crab-Orchard Chapter DAR will be using proceeds from the show to help veterans Charles and Tracci Hargrove get their lives back together after so much misfortune. The Hargroves had settled in Crossville after Charles had served in Afghanistan and Iraq. In April their home suffered major damage from a tornado and then their home was completely destroyed by fire along with their truck and all personal belongings.

Also sharing in the proceeds will be local veterans and school-age children and other community projects.

You will not only enjoy the USO Show, but you'll be helping some very worthy causes — plan to attend!
