Members of the 127 South Senior Center gathered last Friday, July 9, for coffee, lots of conversation and goodies. Bingo began at 10 a.m. with Bill Bullard calling the numbers. Bob Folger with State Farm Insurance furnished the bingo prizes.

President Leonard Hollender called the general meeting together at 11 a.m. Sharon Hilton gave the morning prayer and Bob Kirkland led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag. Leonard and Betty Barnett read the poem "The Ragged Old Flag" in remembrance of July 4. There are 118 people signed up for the picnic on July 16 at Obed River Park and the bingo will start at 10 a.m. with lunch served afterwards by Lefty's BBQ. This should be a fun day for all. Guests for the day were Linda Vaughn and Katie Smith. Members are glad they spent the morning with them.

Jan gave the financial report for the month of June and a copy is posted on the bulletin board. The July 14 trip is a cruise on the Knoxville Star and the bus will depart at 9 a.m. for Knoxville. The August trip will be a cruise to Alaska and everything is set for this trip. A September 18 trip is a ride on the Secret City Express in Oak Ridge and the bus is full with a waiting list. October's trip will be to Chattanooga to see Carl Hurley and Jeanne Robertson and is sold out. The November 10 trip is to the Atlanta Aquarium, sign-up sheets are available. In December, members will be going to the Cumberland County Playhouse for the Christmas play with dinner after the show at Gondola's restaurant. Remember to keep buying the Kroger coupons to support the center.

Emil reminded everyone the 127 Yard Sale is August 5, 6 and 7. The center will need lots of people working on Friday, Saturday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday before the sale to get tables set up and all the items priced and ready for sale. Remember also that the days of the sale the center will be serving breakfast starting at 7 a.m. and lunch each day at 11 a.m. so come to the sale and also enjoy great food. Also, each day there will be a bake sale going on. This is the way we support the center. Come and join us.

Ann Albright gave her sunshine report. She said to remember the following people in your prayers as they are still under the weather or have family that are ill: Betty Slopey, Rachel Schellinger, Rita Ritchie, Tom Simmons, Ray Darby, Jo O'Neal, Terri Mansavage, Mario Gambaccini, Jack Siegal and Joann Barker.

At the conclusion of the general meeting, "Country Rose" entertained everyone with great music. Everyone appreciates and loves to hear her sing. Great job!

After the table blessing, members and guests enjoyed a nice lunch of spaghetti and meatballs coordinated by Mary McClure and her helpers. Look forward to seeing everyone next week at the picnic at Obed River Park.
