From left, Kathy Kraus, assistant director Barbara Lorenz and Carolyn Spangler are shown accepting a generous donation from the Neighbors and Newcomers Club of Cumberland County on behalf of St. Alphonsus Community Services (SAC). They are among the 30 volunteers (no paid staff) dedicated to assisting residents of Cumberland County needing a little help. Begun as a community out-reach service by the parishes of St. Francis and St. Alphonsus Catholic Churches, this non-sectarian agency provided assistance to 1961 households last fiscal year. Financial assistance is available for help with utilities and emergencies which may temporarily impact a family's ability to remain independent. The members of the Neighbors and Newcomers Club are pleased to be able to contribute financial aid to this worthy community service.
