On March 12, we celebrated Helen Gore's 100th birthday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The center was really decorated beautifully. Tables were arranged in a different way, with different colored tablecloths and flowers in the center of them. Thanks to Revie O'Brien for making the beautiful flowers.

There were balloons everywhere in the room. Barbara Smith exercised her arms pumping air in the balloons, which were beautiful. Thank you, Barbara, for all your work and the beautiful birthday cake for Helen.

There were other birthday cakes for Helen from Annette Mullikin, Bety Forsythe and Mary Barnwell. They were all beautiful. Thanks to all who furnished the lovely desserts. Thanks, Mary, for the punch, the large pot of chili and other items. Thank you all for the food that you brought. Peggy and Sky came in carrying so much food between them including her cornbread. I could go on and name each one of you, but I would be writing a book. Thank you for furnishing food for Helen's 100th birthday celebration. She couldn't believe how beautiful the Mayland Center was.

Most of all thanks to Jay Fox for coming and entertaining everyone. They really enjoyed listening to his talk, and his singing was fantastic. Thank you, Jay!

Thanks should also be given to the ones that worked three days getting the center ready for Helen's birthday. They were Charlotte Mullikin, Barbara Smith and Larry and Nancy Hartman. The center thanks them very much for all they did and the beautiful corsage Helen wore. Butch Smith also helped. June Webb, Joyce Zunich and Mary Barnwell took charge of the kitchen and saw to it that food was put on the table at the right time and was hot.

There were so many more that helped at the birthday party, such as Roy Welch, Mike Zunich, Jessie Hyder and Betty Smith. Everyone helped to make Helen's 100th birthday a very special day, one she will never forget.

Members will welcome special guests to the Mayland Senior Center — Veterans Service Officer Mark Daniels and Jonathan Penney.

Woodmen of the World will be sponsoring the bingo game at the next meeting on Friday, March 26. Todd Martin, representative of Woodmen of the World, will be in charge of the game and prizes. Everyone is looking forward to seeing him.

Remember the buffet. Bring your favorite meat dish or casserole and vegetable dish. Don't forget those wonderful homemade desserts. Please make your dish large enough to feed six people. Ladies, you all do a great job when you bring food.
