Wags and Whiskers Pet Rescue has funds available for low-income families to have their dogs or cats sterilized. The cost is $20 per animal and includes the surgery, a rabies vaccination and a feline leukemia or canine heartworm test. These funds have been provided by grants from several organizations, including the Build-a-Bear Workshop Bear Hugs Foundation, the Tennessee "Animal Friendly" license plate and the PETCO Foundation. Memorial gift donation for loved ones and individual donations are also helping provide this service to our most needy families. Their Web site, www.wawpr.org, has more information — please click on the "Spay and Neuter" link on the home page, or call Jackie at 456-6316 to see of you qualify.
