The Fair Park Senior Center Choir and music classes performed at the Christmas party.

Fair Park Senior Center has been having a wonderful Christmas time this month! The seniors at Fair Park know enjoying good friends is the best part of the holidays. The Christmas party at the center was fun with everyone singing along with the FPSC Choir as they performed many holiday songs. Solos were sung by Shirley Vess and Carol Skiles, who conducted the special program, and did an excellent job. The choir was accompanied by the FPSC guitar classes. These music classes are instructed on Mondays and Wednesdays by John Barr.

After bingo, everyone enjoyed a delicious covered dish dinner together. The dinner was serenaded by a pleasant array of mountain music tunes performed by the FPSC guitar forum class, which meets every Wednesday afternoon at 1 p.m. Special thanks to the guests Mr. and Mrs. Claus (Leroy and Sandy Davis.)

The choir also took their Christmas cheer out to the nursing homes in the area, singing to the residents. A special thanks to Vicki Wilson of Life Care Center for their warm hospitality.

Fair Park would also like to thank all the talented people who worked so hard to perform for the Christmas Variety show that was held at the Palace Theatre. Ruth and Wayne Lucas outdid themselves — organizing, promoting and performing for the holiday event. Special thanks to WOWF 102.5’s Gordon Stack for hosting the show and all the entertainers who helped put everyone in a Christmas mood! The important thing is everyone was out being merry with their friends.

Fair Park Senior Center would like to wish everyone a happy New Year!

If you are 55 or older, make plans now to spend next year enjoying yourself at Fair Park.
