Origami, the art of paper folding, is a great way to exercise the mind as well as the fingers.

If you’ve ever had a yen to explore your creative side, or if you’re looking for activities that provide you with fun and good company, Fair Park has just the activities that will get you on your way!

For the artistically inclined, there is origami, crocheting, and Painting with the Masters classes. Origami, the fascinating art of paper folding, will take you where you’ve never been before with just a piece of paper and a series of folds. Crocheting, a brand-new class, starts at the beginning with a ball of yarn and a crochet hook – learn the basic stitches and create easy-to-make projects you can show off to your friends and family. Painting with the Masters teaches you the fundamentals of drawing, working up to more complex projects each week.

If you’re the kind that likes to exercise your mind, why not try the chess class on Thursday afternoons? And, if cards and companionship are your cup of tea, there is pinochle, euchre, canasta, darts, and bridge that may suit your fancy. Every Thursday morning is “Game Day,” where you can get together with other folks and decide which activity you’d like to do. Uno, Rook, Sequence, Rummy, Yahtzee – your imagination is the limit!

Consult the weekly schedule below or visit the center to find out when these activities take place and make plans to join in the fun! And while you’re at the center, be sure to pick up Fair Park’s monthly newsletter – “News Line.” In it, you’ll find an indispensable listing of all classes offered, special events, and up-to-date information on what’s going on at the center.
