Curt Tays, commander of the Veterans Honor Guard, pins a "200 Funerals" pin on Harvey Clouse. Witnessing the event is Tommy Harris from Cookeville Funeral Home. Standing at "attention" in the background are, from left, Al Williams and Ralph Pedde. Clouse, a World War II Navy veteran, joined the unit in December 2004. His usual assignment is that of rifleman. He regularly participates in over 100 funerals a year. He was recently elected as commander of American Legion Post 99 in Sparta. The occasion was at the unit's 1,120th funeral with military honors provided. The 20-member unit serves funeral homes in eight counties of mid-Tennessee.
