Children parade 1.jpg

This young girl was proud to show off the American flag atop her horse during last year’s parade.

Children of Cumberland County, don your red, white, and blue as we celebrate our country’s 234th birthday on Saturday, July 3. Decorate your bikes and battery-powered vehicles patriotically to ride down Main Street. Wagons or strollers to be pulled by grandmothers can also be a part of this parade, or walk waving a flag to be a part of the annual 4th of July Children’s Parade. No gas powered vehicles will be allowed. Organizers also ask that no political shirts, banners or pins, etc. be used on your dress or rides as this is a non-political parade.

Children of all ages should gather behind the Palace Theatre ready to process at 9:45 a.m. on Saturday, July 3. Parade will begin at 10 a.m. from the Palace and disperse at the Depot. The parade is sponsored by The Crab-Orchard Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). For more information, call parade co-chairman Charlotte Reynolds at 484-2630.
