The Big Band Sound will feature a "Patriotic Medley" to honor America's birthday when it performs at the monthly dance at the Fairfield Glade Recreation Center on Saturday, July 8. The event, called "Celebrate America," is scheduled from 7 to 10 p.m. Tickets are $11 per person.

For information and reservations, call the Recreation Department at 484-3722. Early reservations are necessary. Seating is limited.

Reservations can be made and tickets paid prior to the event in person at the Recreation Center. Reservations by phone may be charged to a credit card. Cancellations made two days before the dance will be given full refunds, or the paid reservations may be moved to the next monthly Big Band dance.

The Big Band Sound, under the direction of O. J. Cummins of Cookeville, will perform for listeners and dancers.

Band member Joe Brindisi of Fairfield Glade and his clarinet will be featured during the first set on "Let's Dance." Jeff White of Crossville will solo on the flugelhorn on "Misty" in the second set.

Wanda Hepburn of Crossville will sing "How About You," "The Nearness of You," "When Our Old Wedding Rings Were New" and "You're Nobody Til Somebody Loves You." Hepburn will also be featured on "Crazy" and "You Do Something to Me."

Singer Lloyd Holt of Algood will perform "That's All," "I've Got You Under My Skin," "The Tennessee Waltz," "Fly Me to the Moon" and "The Summer Wind."

The band will include two cha chas, a mambo, a rumba, a tango, swing selections, waltzes, and a line dance.

Dance clubs and classes are welcome. Tables seat ten persons and may be reserved. The dance committee furnishes soft drinks and light snacks. Other beverages and party foods are permitted and may be brought into the facility by those attending.

The Recreation Center is located six miles north of I-40 (Exit 322) at Peavine Road and Stonehenge Road.
