It is still high summer and already preparations for the May Cravath Wharton Association’s annual silent auction are under way. Sale dates are Sept. 28, 29, and 30. The sale takes place in the Blue Barn, located on West Lake Road, adjacent to the Wharton Nursing Home in Pleasant Hill.
At a recent meeting of committee heads, sale co-chairs Jim Olds and Lyle Weible organized work assignments and schedules for the next two months. The core team of 17 members will be at least triple in number as the work progresses. Receiving goods, sorting, cleaning, pricing and arranging are all labor intensive chores, and basic to the success of the sale. They meet each Wednesday morning from now till sale day.
The silent auction is the most ambitious and productive of the four annual fundraising events sponsored by the Wharton Association. Traditionally, this sale features quality home furnishings — solid (preferably antique) furniture, linens, fine china and glassware, silver and flatware, international arts and crafts, jewelry, and good
Folks beyond the immediate Pleasant Hill area are encouraged to donate items for the sale. Home pick-up of large items is available. To learn more about contributing, please call either co-chair: Jim Olds (277-5053) or Lyle Weible (277-5053).
All proceeds from the sale go for service projects at the Wharton Nursing Home, Fletcher House Assisted Living, scholarships to local students and community in the wider area around Pleasant Hill.
