The Ladies 9-Hole Golf League in Fairfield Glade hosted their annual Rally for the Cure golf outing on Monday, July 18 at Heatherhurst Golf Course. 63 golfers in pink attire participated in our 15th annual event to put breast cancer awareness front and center for the day. “It was a day of remembrance,” reported Sally Lemke and Kay Moyer, the rally coordinators. “We honored survivors and remembered our loved ones with a special tribute on Hole #1 on the Crag. Together, as a team, we believe we can make a difference in the fight against cancer. Together we raised $2,022…awesome!”
The outing was a fun-filled day with lots of opportunity to win many themed prizes. A social gathering was held after play on the veranda at Heatherhurst. The tables were decked in pink, thanks to Kay Moyer’s artistic hand. A selection of hors d’oeuvres, salads, and desserts were made by several women in the league and enjoyed by the group. Rally raffle tickets were sold for chances on great prizes! And there were a lot of winners!
Lynne Lynch won the Hole #1 Remembrance Hole raffle. Her prize included her entry fee for the 2012 Rally along with a beautiful golf bag donated by Steve Kraft, director of golf. The closest to the pin on Hole #3 was won by Charlotte Taylor. Her prize was a 5-hybrid club, donated by the Rally headquarters. Pat Bluemle won closest to the pin on Hole #8 and won a beautiful travel bag, courtesy of Galloway Eye Center. Longest putt was won by Nancy D. Smith. Her 8’4” putt won her a large Rally purse. On the Longest Drive hole, the Flight winners were Claudette Purzycki, Flight A; Kay Pierre, Flight B; Chris Celik, Flight C; Nancy Feldman, Flight D; and Lynne Lynch, Flight E. Another grand prize winner was Sandra D’Alessandro. She walked away with a pink PING golf bag donated by a league member.
