Many questions and much speculation about a proposed continuous care retirement community (CCRC) here in Fairfield Glade have been circulating in our community. A task force currently composed of nine residents of Fairfield Glade has been working for approximately 18 months to bring such a facility here. This task force has researched the perceived desire and need for a CCRC, established a not-for-profit organization in order to qualify for the donation of necessary land and has identified potential developers and operators.

They announced about one year ago that Cendant Corporation was willing to donate approximately 24 acres for the facility. At this time, the land donation is pending a survey of the site, which is located off Catoosa Blvd., in the new Fairfield North development. The task force has interviewed several prospective developers and operators and will conduct additional interviews. As soon as the land is surveyed and deeded to the nonprofit organization mentioned earlier, a developer/operator selection will be made and contractual agreements will be established.

This has been, and may continue to be, a time-consuming — but extremely important — project. The task force believes there is an enormous need for a CCRC in our community. The task force intends to provide monthly updates on its progress through the Glade Sun, so stay tuned for further developments!
