The Cumberland County Republican Party has announced it will hold an 18-hole golf tournament at Bear Trace Golf Course Saturday, Aug. 25, followed by a buffet dinner at the nearby State Park Restaurant.

The format will be a four-person scramble, with a 12:30 p.m. shotgun start.

Flights will be men’s, women’s or couples. Numerous prizes will be awarded for both team and individual play.  A putting contest open to all interested participants will proceed play.

Entry fee for golf only is $40, dinner only is $20, and a fee of $60 will allow players to participate in both.  Both individual and team entrants are invited, and spouses and other guests who will not play golf are welcome to attend the dinner.

Men will play from the white tees, women from the red tees and seniors 65 and over from the gold tees.

This tournament is not limited to local residents, and it is hoped that a substantial number of players will be from outside Cumberland County.

Readers who are interested in either assisting in the planning of this event, playing in the tournament, working at the course on the day of the event or those who need more information or an entry form, you are also invited to contact Ed Lewis at or call (931) 456-8879.
