Glen Belcher, conductor of the Cumberland County Community Band and founder of STARTS (Support The ARTS), recently received donations from Rotarian Bruce Horn for both of these organizations to bring music to Cumberland County.
The Cumberland County Community Band performs five free concerts a year at the Stone Memorial High School. The next concert is “Made in the USA” on March 21, beginning at 7 p.m. at Stone Memorial High School.
STARTS is a 501c3 charity the supports all forms of arts in Cumberland County Schools including band, chorus, visual arts, drama and classroom music. STARTS has provided refurbished instruments and music to bands in all schools, as well as providing materials needed for chorus, drama programs and visual arts so students can learn to play and appreciate all forms of the arts.
The Rotary Club has been a long term supporter of music programs including providing recorder instruments to all fifth-grade students and is pleased to continue this support of these two organizations.
