From left are Dr. Stewart Galloway and John Kinnunen, chairman of 22nd annual Member-Member Golf Tournament.

We who live in Fairfield Glade are very fortunate to have such a great selection of golf courses to play and we can also boast that many of our golfers carry very low handicaps. It was those "low handicappers" whose voices were heard when three years ago Dr. Stewart Galloway and Dan Richardson, of Cumberland Eye Care located here in Fairfield Glade, stepped forward to sponsor the Scratch Champions golf flight for the 22nd annual Member-Member Golf Tournament.

This will be the third year that our low handicappers have a terrific opportunity to strut their stuff on the golf course and capturing this title is certainly not open to just the men. The teams for this flight can be made up of two men, two women, or one man and one woman. Over the past two years no women have signed up to compete, but we're hoping this year will be different because we have many lady golfers with low handicaps.

Dr. Galloway and the staff of the Cumberland Eye Care Center have always been very supportive of our golf community and this year is no exception. For the third year they will be providing the winners with engraved plaques and wind shirts to commemorate their victory. The winners will also have their names placed on the permanent plaque on the Wall of Fame located in Druid Hills Pro Shop entrance for all to see. When you see Dr. Galloway, please tell him how much we appreciate his support!

Remember to sign up now! Registration forms are available online at or at all of the pro shops here in Fairfield. The prices have not changed: $75 for two days of golf, loaded bags of treats with a special gift from John Kinnunen and the 22nd annual Member-Member committee, your choice of either a golf shirt or a dozen golf balls, two breakfasts, two lunches and two great days of fun! How can you go wrong?
