September has been an extremely busy month for South students. The Lady Rebels softball team finished second in the county tournament with an 8-2 record in the regular season. The Rebels football team currently has a record of 3-3.

The PTO fundraiser had spectacular results. Good job to everyone who participated!

Monday, Sept. 10, was South's Skate Night at Woodmere Skating Rink. Students thoroughly enjoy this monthly treat. Thanks go to the owners of the skating rink for allowing us to participate.

On Sept. 11, students remembered the tragic events of 9/11 as we strolled silently down the halls during a national "Freedom Walk." Since Sept. 15-Oct. 15 is Hispanic Heritage Month, the eighth-grade made posters and a scrapbook on some Hispanic Americans.

FCA sponsored the national "See You at the Pole" on Wednesday, Sept. 26, where Christian students gathered to pray for the school year.

Kate Vanlandingham is an eighth-grader at South Cumberland Elementary School.
