The Crossville Lions Club recognized the recipients of the G.O.O.D. (Going On Or Defeated) Award at a dinner in their honor on March 12, 2019. The program was developed by Ron Derry, a teacher for 18 years before he lost his eyesight. He asked himself if he was going on with his life, or was blindness going to defeat him? He chose to go on.
One eighth-grader from each elementary school is selected by their teachers, based upon 10 behaviors that reflect caring, cooperation, fairness, honesty, manners, respect, citizenship and responsibility. These students never give up. They maintain a positive attitude in a tough situation and they do their best at each task they are assigned. These eighth-graders received a certificate and a gift card for being G.O.O.D. students
This was the 21st year that the Crossville Lions Club has presented the G.O.O.D. Award.
