Martin hosts yard sale

Martin Elementary will host a yard sale Saturday, June 3, beginning at 8 a.m. All proceeds will benefit the Martin Elementary junior varsity and varsity cheerleaders. To donate yard sale items, contact Christy at 707-1102 by May 31.

Pulmonary Support Group meets

Cumberland Medical Center's Pulmonary Support Group will meet at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 8, in the Cardiac Rehabilitation Department (second floor). The topic is "Pulmonary Seminar Planning Meeting." Cemetery decoration set

Decoration at Smith Chapel Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery, Hwy. 70 W (three miles west of Pleasant Hill), will be held Saturday, June 3. Donations for the upkeep of the cemetery are needed and should be sent to James U. Cobb, Caretaker, 2041 Neverfail Rd., Sparta, TN 38583.

Psoriasis Support Group meets

Do you or someone you know suffer from psoriasis or psoriatic arthritis? The new Cumberland County Psoriasis Support Group invites you to join them to discuss treatments, provide emotional support, plan action activities and to learn about resources available from the National Psoriasis Foundation. New Beginnings sets meeting

New Beginnings, a bereavement support group sponsored by Hospice of Cumberland County, will meet Wednesday, June 7, at noon at the Music Barn, 697 Dunbar Rd. The support group is a safe place for people to share their feelings concerning their loss. There will be an ice cream social after the meeting. VORP sets training dates

VORP/Community Mediation Center, Inc. will host a two day, basic mediation training on June 8 and 9 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Community Room at Roane State Community College. This training will cover basic mediation skill and includes communication, conflict resolution, contract clarity, ethics, domestic violence and discrimination. Participants who successfully complete the course with be invited to join the team of volunteer mediators who serve this community, providing free mediation to anyone in dispute. Cardiac Support Group meets

The CMC Cardiac Support Group will meet June 8 at 10:30 a.m. for their annual picnic at Centennial Park. A covered dish will be appreciated. The Cardiac Support Group meets monthly and is open to anyone with cardiac problems and their loved ones. There is no charge for this meeting, sponsored by Cumberland Medical Center. Parade entrants wanted

Join the Parade of Otters in the Cumberland County Sesquicentennial Parade. Enter a float, decorated truck, dance troupe, scout group, school, church, family, neighborhood or just yourself in the parade to celebrate Cumberland County's 150 birthday on Friday, June 16. Volunteers for walk needed

Anyone interested in helping the Walk to Wipe Out Domestic Violence may come to a meeting Tuesday, May 30, at the Avalon Center office, Suite 100 in the Woodmere Mall. HEAC sets book, craft sale

Home Educators' Association of the Cumberlands will be holding a new and used book and curriculum sale and an arts and crafts sale Friday, June 9, at the fellowship building beside Faith Baptist Church, 92 Walker St., from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Used books and new curriculum plus a wide variety of items will be for sale, including jewelry, artwork, black-smithed items and home-made goods.
