Dulcimer club to meet Sunday

The next meeting of the Cumberland Dulcimer Club will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 15, at the First United Methodist Church on Braun Street. All levels of mountain dulcimer players and those interested in the dulcimer are invited to attend. Woodmen of the World to meet July 17

Woodmen of the World will hold its monthly meeting July 17 at 6 p.m. at the Senior Citizen Building on 127 South. There will be a covered dish dinner preceding the meeting. Members are invited to attend and participate in the activities of the lodge.



Taylor's Chapel FCE picnic set for July 18

New Beginnings meets regularly

New Beginnings, a support group sponsored by Hospice of Cumberland County for anyone who has experienced the loss of a loved one, meets the first and third Wednesday at noon in the First Christian Church on the corner of First and Webb streets. Dance at the DAV July 14

Disabled American Veterans Chapter 32 will be having a dance Saturday, July 14, at 7 p.m. at the DAV building located on Old Sparta Dr. behind Kroger. Enjoy the music of the Buckner Brothers Band. Snacks will be available. Adults only.



Democratic Party sets July 23 picnic

The Cumberland County Democratic Party will hold its annual picnic July 23 at 6 p.m. at Cumberland Mountain State Park at the upper tennis courts. Everyone is invited to meet "the ticket." Scopes Trial Festival set for July 20-22

The Scopes Trial Festival will be July 20-22 in Dayton, TN. The event includes the Scopes Trial play at 8 p.m. July 20, 3 and 7:30 p.m. July 21 and 3 p.m. July 22. Tickets are $15 for reserved seating and $12 general admission. There will also be crafts on display and for sale, children's activities, unique shopping and food. Red Cross board meets July 12

The Cumberland County American Red Cross Chapter will be holding their annual board meeting on Thursday, July 12, starting at 6 p.m. at the First National Bank of Tennessee. The public is invited.
