Submitted

CROSSVILLE — The 18-member Swing Street Big Band will play for the first of three summer ballroom dances at the Fairfield Glade Community and Conference Center at 7 p.m. June 1.

Other dances are scheduled for July 6 to close out the Fairfield Glade Fourth of July weekend observance, and Aug. 31 to open the resort’s Labor Day weekend.

“We invite dancers at all levels from throughout the area to join us to smooth out their favorite dance steps to a wide variety of music from fast swing to slow ballads and latin rhythms,” said band director William Schneider.

The three-hour event begins at 7 p.m.

The band will play three, 45-minute sets.  Music will include swing, fox trot, waltz, cha cha, and rumba.

Tables seat eight persons and may be reserved. Beverages are available for purchase. Guests may bring snacks.

The Fairfield Glade Community and Conference Center is at 128 Stonehenge Road, six miles north of I-40 (Exist 322, Peavine Road).

Tickets are $27.50 per couple ($13.75 per person), including tax, in advance.   Reservations can be made and tickets paid prior to the event at the Center. Phone reservations may be charged to a credit card by calling the Center at 484-3722. The Community and Conference Center accommodates approximately 130 persons for the dance.

The band’s performance continues a 16-year tradition of regular big band dances in Fairfield Glade.
