Montana Skies instrumental duo to perform at Palace Sept. 6

Submitted

— PAART presents a live performance with Montana Skies—a unique opportunity to hear instrumentals as unusual as they are varied. The award winning cello/guitar duo, Jonathan and Jennifer Adams, features music from Pink Floyd to Vivaldi. Theirs is a musical gumbo with ingredients, such as jazz, rock, classical and roots music. So unique that the husband and wife team could not find written music suited for the cello and guitar combination-as rare as hen's teeth! This dilemma had one solution—create their own music, combining their own originals with their favorite artists' works. The result was electrifying and powerful.

It all started in Athens where each were studying music at the University of Georgia. The duo's name comes from the natural beauty that Jonathan Adams experienced while pursuing individual music studies—his in Montana and Jennifer's in Italy. What could be more diverse? An original composition by the same name was the turning point in their personal relationship and led them to the musical path they are now on.

Performing and education (theirs and their audience's) has spawned tours from the U.S. West to South Korea. Jonathan has published and recorded an instructional book and CD on the fingerstyle guitar.

The concert, Sept. 6, 7 p.m. at the Palace Theatre in downtown Crossville, is part of PAART's First Friday concerts. Tickets are $12 for adults and $6 for students. PAART (Performing Arts Alliance Rural Tennessee) is a 501©3 non-profit presenter whose mission is to enrich, educate and entertain while providing support to talented performing artists.
