Additional casting calls by appointment and in a group are set for Saturday at Cumberland County Playhouse for multicultural volunteer teens, kids and adults to perform in ensemble, supporting and selected featured roles in the upcoming productions of the play with music To Kill a Mockingbird and the musical Ragtime.
Especially welcome are African American children, teens and adults for both shows, including a young boy of 3 or 4 in Ragtime, and other kids 7 or 8 and older, plus teens and adults for the Finch housekeeper Calpurnia, Pastor Sykes, and his black church choir in Mockingbird. Many “Irish, Italian, Polish, Greek, Scandinavian” and other multicultural families are needed for singing/acting/dancing roles in Ragtime, plus members of all ages of New York’s Harlem black community. Most major roles remain available, with some (but not all) expected to be filled by members of the Playhouse’s resident professional company.
Auditions will be held Saturday by appointment, beginning at 10:30 a.m. CST. Appointments for individual and group auditions may be made with Meka D. Barrier at 484-4324 or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. All are asked to prepare 16 bars of a song and a 30-45 second monologue, (bring sheet music in the proper key, or a cued-up cd/cassette instrumental accompaniment). Those without a song may be asked to sing Happy Birthday. Group audition will be held from 1:30 to 2 p.m. No prepared audition materials required.
