Curtain Call Dinner Theatre to present ‘Funeral for a Gangster’

Submitted

CROSSVILLE — The Curtain Call Dinner Theatre is inviting you to travel back with them as they take a step back in time to 1928 and join the Mob sendoff which is about to take place for the late Vito "The Gut" Marzetti, who was gunned down in a gangland slaying.

The theatre will be transformed into "Ruby's Place," a popular speakeasy where the grieving family is holding "services" for the Don. They include Joey "The Lump," Frankie "Marbles" and the proprietor of the club, Ruby "Fingers" Marzetti. And, of course, Lena, the "Gut’s" heartbroken widow. Or is she? Maybe she just wants to find the Godfather’s stash and needs her stepchildren (and the audience) to help figure out Vito’s last game. A G-man leads the way in discovering who murdered Vito (after his third helping of moo goo gai pan — he wasn’t called "The Gut" for nothing!) and the location of the cash.

You will be encouraged (optional) to attend dressed in your favorite roaring '20s style garb. It is here that as you enter in the spirit of the occasion you become friends and family of the deceased Vito Marzetti who have come to pay your last respects and your table will team up to search for clues to help find his murderer.

The shows involve a bit of audience participation and you can get "involved" as much as you like or just figure out who-dun-it. This is a lively and fun murder mystery that will keep you laughing and guessing all night long. A delicious Italian dinner is catered by Sammy Jo's trained Italian chef and will give you a "Taste of Italy" (salad, chicken parmesan, five cheese lasagna, fried zucchini, garlic bread sticks, and Italian confections for dessert), all prepared from fresh ingredients. Drinks are coffee, tea and lemonade, and you can purchase soft drinks for a dollar. There is free popcorn during the show. The cost is $30 for adults and includes the meal, beverage, popcorn, show and taxes; gratuities are optional.

Funeral for a Gangster by Eileen Moushey is produced by special arrangement with Mysteries by Moushey, Inc. (minor revisions by Dennis Donald). Reserve your seat now for an evening of theatre, food and fun with the acclaimed Curtain Call Players in this interactive performance, every Thursday, Friday and Saturday starting April 10 through May 3.
