Aug. 16 motorcycle run to benefit disabled athletes

Structured Athletics of Cumberland County is sponsoring a motorcycle run, Cruisin’ for Inclusion, on Saturday, Aug. 16, at Centennial Park in Crossville. All proceeds from the run will be used to provide athletes with developmental disabilities the opportunity to participate in team sports.

The cost for the run is $15 per rider. Riders can pre-register by e-mailing cruisinforinclusion@yahoo.com or by calling The Arc office at 456-0206. Check-in for the event begins at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, at Centennial Park. In case of rain, alternate date and time will be posted at www.freewebs.com/cruisinforinclusion.

The route for the run begins at the park, follows Hwy. 70N to Monterey, then circles back to Crossville by way of Hwy. 62E and Genesis Road.

Beginning at 2 p.m., there will be activities for the bikers, the SACC athletes and their families, as well as the general public. There will be food, live music provided by Crimson Blues, and door prizes.

Opening ceremonies for the 2008 SACC baseball season begin at 4:30, with the first baseball game of the season immediately following. The public is encouraged to come by and support the athletes.
