Rugby hosts classic rock concert July 12

Calling all classic rock fans… bring your lawn chairs and beverages (non-alcoholic) and head over to Historic Rugby Saturday evening, July 12, for an outdoor benefit concert you won’t forget. The music will begin at 7:45 EDT in front of the Rugby Visitor Center & Theatre.

Yes, Historic Rugby usually presents British and Appalachian style music, but classic rock is historic too, and Cookeville-based Legacy Classic Rock Band knows how to play it and how to sing it. From the Eagles, Moody Blues, and Chuck Berry, to Bob Seger and Eric Clapton, you’ll enjoy the '60s, '70s and '80s music that Legacy loves to share – "Mustang Sally," "Midnight Rider," "Desperado," "Takin’ Care of Business," "Johnny B. Good," and "Ain’t No Sunshine," to name just a few.

There’s no admission charge – instead audience members can donate whatever they choose to help Historic Rugby continue to keep the doors open to visitors from all over and to residents of this Cumberland Plateau region, and to keep all public programs going.

The Harrow Road Café starts serving dinner at 5 p.m. EDT, which will give folks plenty of time to enjoy a good meal before heading a block east to the concert location. Call the café at (423) 628-2350 if you’d like to make reservations. There’s plenty of parking both adjacent to the concert site and within the one-block area.

Legacy Class Rock Band member and bass player Larry Edmondson is Historic Rugby’s board chairman, and has arranged for his band to play this benefit. Historic Rugby deeply appreciates him and his fellow band members, Jeff Stout and Jack Jones on guitar, Freddy Duncan and Anthony Jackson, percussion; and Glenn Miranda keyboards. The entire band joins in on vocals. Call Historic Rugby at (423) 628-2441 if you need more information. You can learn more about the band at their Web site, www.legacyclassicrock.com.

Historic Rugby is about 40 miles northeast of Crossville on State Scenic Hwy. 52. Call 1-888-214-3400 for lodging and other information.
