The band Jada Blade, comprised of three local residents, will be the opening act for the '80s sensation Survivor, who wrote "Eye of the Tiger." This event will take place in Oak Ridge on June 20, at 7 p.m.
"This is a big deal as they will perform in front of thousands of people," said Leslie England, director of customer service of the Oak Ridge Utility District.
Making up the band Jada Blade are Jim Johnston, Larry Berney and Bruce England. Johnston and Berney both reside in Crossville and England was raised in Crossville. They all graduated from Cumberland County High School and have been playing in bands locally and regionally for years.
Johnston plays bass, with Berney on the drums and England on the guitar. They are joined by female lead singer Leslie England. The group has a CD titled Clean Water and will be performing their original songs along with your favorite 1980s hits.
"It would be great for local Crossvillians to support the group in this endeavor," Leslie England stated.
Tickets are $15 each. Children 10 years old and younger get in free. Tickets are available online at www.secretcityfestival.com.
