Since its inception in 1978, the Art Guild at Fairfield Glade has become a well-known center for the visual arts on the Cumberland Plateau. The guild serves Cumberland County at large by sponsoring art scholarships for graduating high school students, summer art programs for children, the school picture person program, access to its special art library, and many workshops.
To fund these activities, the guild sponsors special events throughout the year. Among those events is the biannual Art Studio Tour to be held on June 13 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The tour features the home studios (and in some cases gardens) of several member artists.
Tickets for this event can be obtained at the Plateau Creative Arts Center, 451 Lakeview Drive, Fairfield Glade and at the Village Green Mall from 10 a.m. to noon on June 11 and 12.
The Art Guild invites you to observe artists working in their expertly equipped studios and enjoy a range of experiences from photography, watercolor, oil, metal fabrication, to color pencil. Two artists will be demonstrating the craft of sewing long leaf pine needles and hand-woven beadwork jewelry at the Plateau Creative Arts Center.
Set aside some time to enjoy this tour, and while at the art center, explore the gallery which is open to everyone interested in furthering art appreciation. The Art Guild at Fairfield Glade is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization and is an equal opportunity provider. Their Web site address is www.artguildfairfieldglade.net.
