PAART presents 'Golf, the Musical'

Do you like golf? Do you like musicals? Then you’re bound to like Performing Arts Alliance of Rural Tennessee’s (PAART) upcoming workshop production of Golf: The Musical. Even if you don’t like golf or musicals, you will still enjoy this comical revue of songs, skits and jokes, which parodies both golf and musicals.

Golf: The Musical, from a concept by Eric Krebs with book, music, and lyrics by Michael Roberts, will be presented May 15-18 at the Palace Theatre on Main St. in Crossville. Performance times are 7 p.m. on May 15, 16 and 17 and 2 p.m. on May 18. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children and students and may be reserved by calling Alice Payne at 484-7997. Tickets will also be available at the door, which will open one hour before each performance.

Golf: The Musical, directed by Patty Payne and musically directed by Marian Sullivan, features a variety of song styles and skits including Tiger Woods, Plaid, A Great Lady Golfer, Presidents and Golf, and an audience participation putting competition. Debbie Mendenhall, co-incorporator of the nonprofit PAART, states, “For our first ‘senior workshop’ production, we wanted to do a show with local interest featuring our area’s talented senior performers. Since Cumberland County is the golf capital of Tennessee with several retirement communities, we decided that Golf: The Musical might just be the perfect project.”

The volunteer, community cast includes Patricia Anulewicz, Linda Betz, Stan Bise, Nancy Cox, Sharon DeBruyn, Dennis Donald, Jeanne Frisbie, Pat Kelly, and Jeni Marin, with a guest appearance by Patty Payne.
