Tickets available for Railroad Rendezvous excursion train

Railroad Rendezvous Springfest is coming around the bend, bringing with it food, music, entertainment and the ever-popular excursion train. Scheduled for May 3, the Tennessee Central Railway Museum train will arrive from Nashville with a few hundred passengers at about 11:30 a.m. The train will board local passengers from the Cookeville Depot for a round-trip ride to Algood.
The train ride is just one of the many activities scheduled for the 9th Annual Railroad Rendezvous Springfest. Live music, a car show, a cook-off and children’s games will highlight the event. Plus, there’s a rumor going around the notorious Barrett Gang has been spotted in Putnam County! The Pinkerton Detective Agency is hot on their trail. Could the gang possibly have something planned for Railroad Rendezvous?
Two stages will be set up for music and entertainment from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Dobros at the Depot, the State Championship resonator guitar competition, will be at the east end of the Depot. The other stage will feature a number of local bands from classic rock to country music. Pockets of musicians will be found throughout the event in and around Cookeville’s historic depot and Westside area. Admission is free.
New to this year’s event are a “Cruz-In” with various cars from antiques to Corvettes and a hamburger cook-off. Participants will compete for bragging rights in the first-ever “Burger Bash” sponsored by Leo's Spring Street Super Market. PBS’s Clifford the Big Red Dog, sponsored by WCTE-TV, a bounce house, rock climbing wall, covered wagon rides, bungee run, and old-timey games will be on-site during the event. Many Westside retailers will be open for a unique shopping experience. Some will have merchandise for sale on the sidewalks.
Tickets for the excursion train are available at the Cookeville-Putnam County Chamber of Commerce, One West First St. Prices are as follows: children 4 and under ride free in adults lap; children 5-12, $10; adults, $15. All dome seats are $30.
