It will Blue against Gray again during “Civil War Living History Weekend” at Ramsey House Plantation April 19-20. Union and Confederate re-enactors portraying historic Civil War artillery, infantry and cavalry units will be encamped in Ramsey meadows for this weekend event. Saturday hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Sunday hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
There will be battle reenactments each day at 2 p.m. Ladies from the United Daughters of the Confederacy will present a period fashion show on Saturday at 1 .pm. Sunday activities will begin at 10 a.m. with an open air church service.
Other activities will include maneuvers, drills and weapons demonstrations; book signings; and tours of historic Ramsey House where visitors will learn of Ramsey family ties to the Civil War. Visitors may also walk through the encampment where they’ll find interesting articles such as leather goods from the camp Sutler.
Beans and cornbread and other food from Mrs. Ramsey’s Kitchen will be available.
Ramsey House Plantation is at 2614 Thorn Grove Pike, in Knoxville. Admission is $5 per person; $12 for family of 3 or more. Parking is free.
