Playhouse sets Beauty and the Beast auditions

— Cumberland County Playhouse will hold auditions for ensemble and supporting roles for its summer production of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast April 15. With the production sponsored by Looney & Chadwell Title Services and Kenneth and Carol Ann Chadwell, Beauty and the Beast auditions will be held between 6:30 and 9:30 p.m. on the following schedule:
6 p.m. — adult and teen volunteers ages 14 and older not currently in a Playhouse show/class (No prepared material required); 6:30 p.m. — kids and younger teens ages 9 to13 not currently in a Playhouse show or class (No prepared material required);
7 p.m. — kids ages 9 to13 who are now in a show or class, including for the role of Chip (16 bars of a song, with sheet music in the proper key, welcome and recommended);
8 p.m. — adults and teens ages 14 and up who are now in a show or class (16 bars of a song, with sheet music in the proper key, welcome and recommended).
No appointment is necessary, but those interested are asked to call Meka at 484-4324 ext 243 to register. Further scheduling will be done at audition site and readings, dance or callback auditions will be arranged as needed. Beauty and the Beast starts rehearsal May 20, opens June 20 and closes Aug. 24.
Available roles include supporting characters including Chip, Darque, Wolves, Enchanted Objects, townspeople, Silly Girls, dancing forks, spoons and many other utensils for the “Be Our Guest” number and more. Cast members will work with top professionals auditioned and cast from coast to coast, and members of the CCP resident professional company.
