Daughters of the American Revolution to host event before veterans' parade

The Crab-Orchard Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution will host a free coffee and pastries event at the gazebo on the courthouse lawn just prior to and during the Vietnam Veterans Welcome Home Parade. The parade is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 29, and will be the first of many events to honor Vietnam veterans during the weekend.
According to the DAR Service for Veterans Committee, hosting the free coffee and pastries for the Vietnam veterans and all who come to enjoy the Welcome Home Parade demonstrates the DAR’s deep appreciation to those loyal soldiers who answered their country’s call during the Vietnam War.
The two-day event will also feature an extensive program of speakers, entertainers, and musicians at the Cumberland County Complex. Program organizers emphasize that all of the events are free to the public and encourage everyone to enjoy this belated “homecoming” and recognition of the Vietnam veterans.
McDonalds and Flowers Baking Company of Crossville are donating the coffee and pastries for the event.
