NASHVILLE — State officials are celebrating the 30th anniversary of Tennessee's first-in-the-nation child seat laws.
Gov. Phil Bredesen on Thursday praised the vision that lawmakers had in passing the law that went into effect in 1978.
Bredesen said that other states in the country had passed similar laws within six years.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration estimates that 8,700 children's lives have been saved by the proper use of child restraints.
